Peter Courcy's Jersey Retired

Peter Courcy was a Frisco hockey player who was a leader at Frisco High School, hockey team captain and someone teammates and coaches deeply respected. After high school, Peter continued his life of service by joining the U.S. Army in July of 2006. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 with the 101st Airborne Division but was tragically killed in action. His jersey was retired during an Alumni Game ceremony and hangs at our home ice in the Frisco Comerica Center - Stars Rink.

“We hope those not lucky enough to know Peter, personally, know how much he meant to us, our team, our school and our community”, said Julie Bullis, co-founder of Frisco Ice Hockey Association.

His mother, Mary Bush, said, “It’s the greatest honor to Peter because he always wanted to have his hockey jersey retired, and so he’s getting it.”

Frisco Mayor Maso was in attendance and the event was covered by Channel 8 and Channel 4. A special thanks to past President of FIHA, Mark Henry, for his tireless effort to get Peter’s jersey hung at the Comerica Center and to coordinate a fitting tribute to one of our FIHA family members.
